Youth & Women’s Services Agencies:
These agencies, in the Kasese region of Western Uganda, serve “the least of these”:
Agape of Hope: teaches tailoring (then provides 3 sewing machines for each group of 10 graduates)
– 6,100 beneficiaries
Friends of the Poor: provides basic business training together with micro-credit loans
– 3,000 beneficiaries
Rural Youth Development (Roman Catholic): organizes impoverished women into life-skills & savings circles
– 600 beneficiaries
Young and Powerful Initiative YAPI (Anglican): outreach to many schools, teaching civil rights and basic sanitation (eg; hand washing); emphasis on teaching girls to make re-usable sanitary pads, to stay in school during menstrual periods.
– 7,500 beneficiaries
Youth Empowerment Services YES, Najsad Foundation & Mubuku Community Development: teach weaving, hair cutting/styling, secretarial, computer skills; connect graduates to businesses
– 3,000, 2,000, & 2,000 beneficiaries respectively
